Hunger has always been a big issue for sustainable development, and while society has been moving forward, the 2024 report states that between 713 million and 757 million people will experience hunger in 2023, with nearly a third of the world's population - some 2.33 billion people - facing moderate or severe food insecurity, a figure that has barely changed in the past three years. So what should we focus on when it comes to global hunger?

1.Regional aspects

We should focus on Africa, Asia and Latin America. In stark contrast, hunger continued to rise in Africa, affecting 20.4 per cent of the population, whilein Asia it remained stable at 8.1 per cent. Given that the region is home to more than half of the world's hungry people, this is a matter of grave concern. Some progress has been made in Latin America, where 6.2% of the population faces hunger. However, from 2022 to 2023, the number of hungry people increased in Western Asia, the Caribbean and most African subregions.

Inthe case of Africa, we do not see the necessary capacity to deliver effective, targeted social protection programmes. In addition, the region has been particularly affected by conflict, climate change and the economic slowdown. Currently, the largest number of countries are facing food crises due to these three key factors, of which conflict is the main factor.

2.Food

At present, billions of people still do not have access to enough food, and in some developed regions, many people eat too much nutrition and become obese. How to solve the food problem, the key lies in the development of agriculture, increase agricultural output, strengthen the construction of agricultural infrastructure is very important.
