Eliminating all forms of poverty worldwide is what they do——

 People in the slums

You know what?

By 2030, at least half of the age groups of men, women, and children who fall into various forms of poverty, as defined by national standards. Implement a universal social security system and measures that are suitable for the country's national conditions, including minimum standards, to cover the poor and vulnerable groups to a large extent by 2030.

By 2030, ensurethat all men and women, especially the poor and vulnerable, have equal accessto economic resources, basic services, ownership and control of land and otherforms of property, inheritance, access to natural resources, appropriate newtechnologies, and financial services, including microcredit.

By 2030, enhancethe resilience of the poor and vulnerable groups to disasters, reduce theirprobability and vulnerability to extreme weather events and other economic, social, environmental shocks and disasters.

If the currenttrend continues, 575 million people will still live in extreme poverty by 2030,and only one-third of countries will be able to halve their poverty rates.

Despite theexpansion of social security coverage during the COVID-19 crisis, over 4billion people still lack protection. Many vulnerable groups in the world, including young and elderly people, are still not protected by variousstatutory social security schemes.

The proportion ofgovernment spending on basic services such as education, health, and socialsecurity in developed economies is significantly higher than that in emergingand developing economies.

Expanding actionsand increasing investment to increase economic opportunities, improve educationlevels, and extend social security to all, especially the most excluded, arecrucial for fulfilling the core commitments of eradicating poverty and leaving noone behind.

The global povertyline has been raised to $2.15, a slight increase of 0.1 percentage points to8.5%, and the number of people living in poverty has increased from 648 millionto 659 million.

How much do you know about the poverty free goal?

Eliminating extreme poverty worldwide by 2030 is a key goal of the 2030 Agenda forSustainable Development.

Extreme povertyrefers to living expenses of less than $2.15 per person per day, calculatedbased on purchasing power parity in 2017. In recent decades, the number ofpeople living in extreme poverty has significantly decreased. However, theemergence of the COVID-19 epidemic is a turning point, reversing the progressmade in poverty eradication in decades. The number of people living in extremepoverty has increased by nearly 90 million for the first time in 20 to 30 yearscompared with the previous forecast.

Even before theoutbreak of the epidemic, the momentum of poverty reduction was slowing down.It is predicted that by the end of 2022, 8.4% of the world's population, or asmany as 670 million people, will still be living in extreme poverty. Theepidemic has actually reversed about three years of poverty reduction progress.

If current trendscontinue, it is estimated that by 2030, 7% of the global population - about 575million people - will still live in extreme poverty, with the majorityconcentrated in sub Saharan Africa.

A shockingphenomenon is that the level of world hunger has regressed to the level of2005. Equally concerning is that compared to the period between 2015 and 2019,food prices in many countries have continued to rise. The dual challenges ofpoverty and food security have raised serious concerns globally.
