The Current State and Countermeasures of Community Elderly Care under Severe Aging

In the context of an increasingly severe global aging trend, Shanghai has also entered a period of deep aging. As China's most representative international metropolis, it faces unique challenges such as high population density in central urban areas, expansive urban functional development, a growing number of "New Shanghainese," and limited urban infrastructure space in central districts. These factors contribute to the increasing demands of the elderly for living conditions, medical care, and companionship.

In the past 16 months the author conducted random visits to several communities in the city (community names are not listed for privacy reasons) to collect relevant data. Through literature review, data comparison, case studies, and survey questionnaires, the paper preliminarily explores the current state of community elderly care in a mega-city under deep aging and proposes corresponding countermeasures.
